For Melbourne Design Week 2022, Halcyon Lake presented “Forest,” an evocative exploration of Edelgrund’s Iranian rugs at Black Cat Gallery. Originally shown at Milan Design Week 2021, this installation by Paolo Giordano and Ouwen Mori featured eighteen suspended panels that transformed traditional textiles into a dynamic visual experience. The deconstructed rugs, woven by female artisans in Alasht, Iran, were reimagined as abstract art, showcasing their intricate beauty and modular design. This presentation highlighted the fusion of craftsmanship and contemporary design, offering new perspectives on the timeless art of Persian weaving, while celebrating sustainable practices and cultural heritage.
